At the Zoo

The … giraffe had a sore … neck. The hippopotamus had a sore stomach. The … hippopotamus had a sore … stomach. The tiger had a sore leg. The … tiger had a sore … leg. The … elephant had a sore … ear. The elephant had a sore ear.

The … crocodile had a sore… tooth. The crocodile had a sore tooth. The … monkey had a sore … tail. The monkey had a sore tail. And the … zookeeper had a sore … head! And the zookeeper had a sore head! That was great! You can read! You really can!

  Innovation:

What’s wrong giraffe?” and the giraffe’s saying: “I’ve got a sore neck.”

“What’s the matter, hippo?” “I’ve got a sore stomach.” “What’s the matter with you, tiger?” “My leg is sore.” “What’s wrong with you, elephant?” “My ear is soooo sore!” “What’s the matter, crocodile?” “I have a very sore tooth.” “Open wide!”

What’s wrong, monkey?” “My tail is sore!” “It aches and aches.” What’s wrong with you, zookeeper? “Ohhh! I have a sore head!” “I have a bad headache!” Poor zookeeper.

The Baby Turtle

The baby turtle can see the … sun. He can see the sand. What can he see? The sand! He can see the sand. He can see the … rock.

He can see the … crab. He can see the … seagull! He can see the … water. The baby turtle goes into the water and swims away. Fantastic reading!

  Link

I am a tiny turtle, and there’s something you should know I have two ways of travelling, and both of them are slow!

  Traditional Poem:Over in the Meadow

Over in the meadow in the sand in the sun

Lived an old mother turtle and her little turtle one.

  “Dig,” said the mother.

  “I dig,” said the one.

So they dug all day in the sand in the sun.

Over in the meadow where the river runs blue

Lived an old crocodile and her little babies two.

  “Smile,” said the mother.

  “We smile,” said the two.

So they smiled all day where the river runs blue.

[You have to watch out for the smiling crocodiles!]

Dinnertime

Dinnertime故事都讲了些什么?“Do you want some … meat?” “No!” “Do you want some … rice?” “No!” “Do you want some … cheese?” “No!”

“Do you want some … bread?” “No!” “Do you want some … milk?” “No!” Here kitty, kitty, kitty! “No! No! I want my dinner!” Wonderful reading!!

  Innovation: Dinnertime

Do you want some jellybeans? Meownow! That’s how a cat says no Do you wants some pizza? Meownow! Do you want some bananas? Meownow! Do you want some fish? Purr-Purr That’s how a cat says yes! I want some fish!

当然it’s a w for worm.

A Journey

They are going on … 我们一起来看看:We are going … 以字母o开头的……That’s right! “ … over the grass”. – that’s right jungle.

Now they are going over the mud. Now they are going …又看到字母o了吧!– they are going … over the log. Or is it a log? Or is it a …Oh, no! – “Help! Run!” You know – A crocodile! Help! Run!

  A crocodile!

  Second Read:

A Journey. Where are we going? We are going over the grass. Now, We are going …这回不是以o开头的over了,是以I开头的…into That’s right! We are going into the jungle. We are going … over the mud. We are going … Would it be “over” the river, or “into” the river. We are going into the river. You got it! We are going … over the … log. “Help! Run!” “A crocodile!” Well done! You’re really clever.

  17:45—18:00(首播):

3.Boys and girls, look at this photo, please. Who are they? Do you know? Yes, they are Lingling’s grandparents. It was their wedding day. Their, their, 他们的,wedding, wedding 婚礼。It was their wedding day. It was their wedding day. Were they old then? No, they weren’t old then. They were very young. Then,在那时,then, then, They weren’t old then. They were very young. Is 的过去式是was, 否定形式:wasn’t; are的过去式是were, 否定形式:weren’t. Now, say after me, please. It was their wedding day. They weren’t old then. They were very young. Good job!

  4. Who is that little girl? But your hair was so short. Hair, hair,头发,so, so 如此地,那么地,But your hair was so short. But your hair was so short. Now my hair is long. Now my hair is long. Well, let’s go on watching the cartoon.

5.How old was Lingling in that photo? Was she four? No, she wasn’t. She was two. Amy 被照片上玲玲可爱的表情吸引住了,忍不住评论道:You were so cute! You were so cute! She was naughty, too! Let’s watch the cartoon again and try to say after it.

Unit 2 I helped my mother.

Did they watch TV? Did they listen to music? Did they talk to friends? Let’s watch the cartoon again and then you’ll know the answers.

Amy:Did you help your mother on Saturday? Yes, I did. I helped my mother. I helped my mother. Did you help your mother on Saturday? Yes, I did. Did you help your mother on Saturday? Yes, I did. Dad and Tom watched TV and Sam played football. 同学们现在应该可以判断出:watched和played 分别是watch和play的过去式,watch---watched, watch---watched, play---played, play---played, Dad and Tom watched TV and Sam played football. Let’s the go on watching the cartoon.

Did you listen to music on Sunday? No,we didn’t. Did you listen to music on Sunday? No, we didn’t. We walked in the park and we talked to friends. Walk---walked, walked---walked, talk---talked, talk---talked, We walked in the park and we talked to friends. Now let’s watch the cartoon again!

Unit 3 Did the cow jump over the moon?

Listen carefully, please!

2.Did the cow jump over the moon? Yes, it did. Isn’t it an interesting song? Let’s sing it together, Ok?

Bye-bye, boys and girls.

Hello everyone, this is Zoe from CCTV channel 10.

  Peter

  Manni

Manni.

In the last part, we also learned some expressions, such as

"Look forward to", "have nothing to do with", "it's very sweet of you", "in trouble" and so on ... After the practice match,

Peter was told to leave London Rangers,

it seemed that Manni would be the next one.

“In an important match Alex tests his new players out".

The first sentence is about how to make a request.

I'm sorry about the delay, Manni,

Mr Carter will be as you as soon as possible.

--Could you cut my hair right now? I'm in a hurry.

--Would you please hurry up? I've to leave in 5 minutes.

-- Can you get me some coffee please?

--Look, maybe you should try sitting down?

will you please...? 或would you please....?

--Could you add Manni's name to the team list, please?

--Would you mind if I smoke here?

--How about playing tennis this evening? I'd take everything you need.

I suppose so."

When Manni is waiting for Alex about the final dicision,

  what Lucia is doing now?

Lucia: do you have any message for me?

Emma: No, sorry, are you okay?

Right, when you're calling a friend,

someone else answers your phone call,

you can just say "Can I leave a message for him ?"

Can I leave a message for him?

Alex didn't understand why Manni passed the ball to Peter

when he had an open goal.

He just thought Manni was doing Peter a favor.

Was he doing him a favor?

do sb a favor/do a favor for sb

May I ask you a favor? 或Do me a favor please.

You could see that Peter was suffering out there

and you tried to help. Wrong thing to do.

I need to know that my players are playing the game.

Not messing about helping their mates.

Football is about winning, not about looking good.

He spent most of his time simply messing about.

In the last dialogue we don't know what Alex will decide,

likely he was trying to help Manni.

But what's Sophie's attitude towards Manni?

Peter always had a problem with the training

  - he was always holding something back.

He never gave himself one hundred percent.

  Peter

The police held back the crowd.

She could not hold back her tears.

If you leave here before the end of the month,

  we'll hold back your salary.

Sophie: why did he do that? It was so stupid.

  Joe: He just didn't think.

Sophie: You're right. He didn't. He made himself look ridiculous.

I've seen it in players before. It's a sort of obsession.

  Obsession:

You haven't given me the commitment I expect.

We don't play for fun, we play to win.

  Commitment:

Up to now, we don't know if Manni will leave London Rangers.

To Paul and Jim, Manni is sure to leave next,

with which they even feel happy.

Likely Emma is the only one who expects Manni to stay.

Paul and Joe were eager to tell Emma that Manni would leave.

But they tried to appear calm,

and be ready to give her a surprise.

Yeah, we've got some great gossip, only over dinner.

But Emma refused Paul's invitation for dinner,

saying that she must look after Manni and Peter.

She had to make sure that Manni and Peter

wouldn't stay out late that night.

I think Manni will be going home, cheer up,

at least you'll be free for dinner tonight.

But I'm going to give you a chance.

I want you to play in the reserve team game late this afternoon.

Remember though, this is a test.

I need to see what you can do. No more stupid tricks,

  you're a part of a team, okay?

  No more stupid tricks

Don't play stupid tricks any more.

It's really good news. I wonder what Peter

will react after he knows Manni will stay at Rangers.

In the drama Jim said they've got some great gossip.

Now let's say something about gossip.

  与另一个词chat(聊天)相近,

I won't be interested in any gossip about my friend.

He was curious, meddlesome, and gossipy.

Please remember the word "gossip", and try not

let your friends think you're gosspy.

Right, mind your mouth, don't be a gossiper.

  Manni

  See you next time.

Hello everyone, this is Zoe. welcome to Goal.

This is Unit 04,part two。 In the last part, Manni really had a tough time.

But, after all the ups and downs, things have finally taken a turn for the better.

Right. Almost everyone thought Alex would tell Manni he must leave the club.

That's really great. I'm sure Manni will show how good he is in the reserves game.

But for the moment, Manni's friends still don't know the good news. Let's take a look.

Sophie thinks Alex has let Manni go. She doesn't understand

because she thought Manni was doing really well.

After all the work Manni's done, I thought he would definitely make it into the team.

Make it into the team means to succeed in becoming part of the team,

to win a place in the team.

  Other examples:

-She never made it as an actor.

-The train leaves in 5 minutes...we'll never make it.

She says: "the problem is if he goes, I go. That was the agreement."

Sophie is convinced Alex will definitely let Manni go.

And when Manni enters the room, both her and Joe try to make him feel better

  about the bad news.

Sophie and Joe try to comfort Manni, they say:

I'm sorry buddy, don't beat yourself up about it.

  Don't blame yourself Manni.

Beat up means to wound someone by hitting。

For example :the boy robbed the old man and beat him up。

Beat up also means to mix thoroughly。

Beat up the egg and then add some milk.

So don`t beat yourself up.

To blame is to consider sb responsible for sth bad.

  For example :

They blamed the failure on George.

He blamed the accident on the bad weather.

  比如说:I'm to blame,这是我的错,但不能说I'm to be blamed,这是很重要的用法。

  I'm to blame.

He had only himself to blame.

A bad workman always blames his tools.

That's fantastic!".

But Paul and Jim and Emma don't know the news yet. Emma

said:It doesn't make sense. I thought Manni was doing well.

  It doesn't make sense.

-It makes sense to take care of your health.

-Does it make any sense?

-What you say makes no sense.

If we say "make sense of", that means to understand something

  that's difficult or apparently meaningless.

  make sense of指理解、弄懂。

-Can you make sense of what he says?

-It's hard to make sense of this poem.

Listen, either a player's got what it takes or he hasn't

and no amount of training's going to make a bad player into a good one.

  句子中的“have got what it takes"是常用的口语,

  For Example:

This job is very demanding. Are you sure you've got what it takes?

Jim always agree with Paul,he said :100% right, mate。

And then he said :I`m off to the gym。

  可以和同事们说 off we go。

Paul is very smug, he thinks so highly of himself.

Right, but when things don't turn out the way he expected, how will he react?

Now everyone knows that Manni will stay.

Emma is very happy and excited. Lucia doesn't seem to care much.

But how about Paul and Jim?

Was Carter a bit nasty then? Are you going to be leaving us soon, then?

Nasty means very ugly or unpleasant to see, to smell or to taste.

  Cheap and nasty furniture.

Nasty also means angry, mean and threatening。

A Nasty temper 吓人的脾气,so Was Carter a bit nasty?

When Jim hears that Manni has been allowed to play in the Reserves,

he seems a little embarrassed and says : You're joking! Well done.

Paul didn`t see Jim making a gesture to tell Paul that Manni is not leaving.

Never mind mate, you can always play football in the park

with Joe's school kids side! Eh, Joe?

  Joe

Paul is pretty awful. He seems to rejoice in other people's unhappiness.

Paul is arrogant and selfish。 Paul

Paul is always sarcastic when he speaks to Manni。

  Emma is very kind-hearted。 Emma

Emma is always very earnest with Manni。

  Sophie is very hardworking. Sophie

We can try to learn some sentences talking about characters, such as:

Lee is very sociable. She makes friends quickly and gets along with most people.

Joan is shy. She gets nervous when she meets new people.

  Joan

Manni and Lucia have an argument! When she understands that Manni is not going home with her, she's not very happy. She thinks Manni should go back home, because at home he is already a star.

Manni said :It will help me play in the first team。

The first team is Manni's next goal.

Yes,football is tough, you have to start from the bottom and prove you're good.

Some players don't get on the pitch for months after they join the team。

Lucia doesn't understand how it works, for her, football is just about being famous.

But for Manni, football is everything.

He said:it could be a big opportunity for me.

opportunity only knocks at the door once。

I had the chance //opportunity// of visiting Paris。

So, what's the point of it? That means

"Why are you doing it then? What is there to gain by doing that?"

  Here point means reason, purpose.

  - The point of this exercise is to see if you have understood.

  - It's getting late, there's not much point in going to the park now.

In football and other sports, Point

We won the game by12 points to 3。

I get your point。(I quite understand your suggestion)

That`s not the point。(that's not the problem, that's not what we're talking about. )

Lucia just can`t understand what`s the point of playing in the reserve team.

And Manni can't see the point of arguing with Lucia. He says :Look,I don`t want to get into a stupid argument。

There are many arguments against smoking。

We should try to settle this affair by argument not by fighting。

  Argue

Argue is to express a different opinion, to fight with words, to quarrel。

Do what you are told, don`t argue with me。

He is always ready to argue about politics with George。

Now let's return to the story. Lucia wants Manni to go shopping with her,

but Manni insists on his training. Who will give in?

Lucia is a model, so for her shopping is very important.

What's more she is leaving London tomorrow,

so she thinks she and Manni need to spend some time together.

Neither Manni nor Lucia will listen to each other.

For the moment they both refuse to give in.

Before you see the next part you may wonder:

What will Manni and Lucia do next? Go shopping or go to the pitch?

Now Manni has gone into the reserves team, will Sophie get the full-time job?

How will Manni perform in the reserve game?

To find out what happens next, make sure you join us next week!
