Hello everyone, this is Zoe from CCTV channel 10.
Peter
Manni
Manni.
In the last part, we also learned some expressions, such as
"Look forward to", "have nothing to do with", "it's very sweet of you", "in trouble" and so on ... After the practice match,
Peter was told to leave London Rangers,
it seemed that Manni would be the next one.
“In an important match Alex tests his new players out".
The first sentence is about how to make a request.
I'm sorry about the delay, Manni,
Mr Carter will be as you as soon as possible.
--Could you cut my hair right now? I'm in a hurry.
--Would you please hurry up? I've to leave in 5 minutes.
-- Can you get me some coffee please?
--Look, maybe you should try sitting down?
will you please...? 或would you please....?
--Could you add Manni's name to the team list, please?
--Would you mind if I smoke here?
--How about playing tennis this evening? I'd take everything you need.
I suppose so."
When Manni is waiting for Alex about the final dicision,
what Lucia is doing now?
Lucia: do you have any message for me?
Emma: No, sorry, are you okay?
Right, when you're calling a friend,
someone else answers your phone call,
you can just say "Can I leave a message for him ?"
Can I leave a message for him?
Alex didn't understand why Manni passed the ball to Peter
when he had an open goal.
He just thought Manni was doing Peter a favor.
Was he doing him a favor?
do sb a favor/do a favor for sb
May I ask you a favor? 或Do me a favor please.
You could see that Peter was suffering out there
and you tried to help. Wrong thing to do.
I need to know that my players are playing the game.
Not messing about helping their mates.
Football is about winning, not about looking good.
He spent most of his time simply messing about.
In the last dialogue we don't know what Alex will decide,
likely he was trying to help Manni.
But what's Sophie's attitude towards Manni?
Peter always had a problem with the training
- he was always holding something back.
He never gave himself one hundred percent.
Peter
The police held back the crowd.
She could not hold back her tears.
If you leave here before the end of the month,
we'll hold back your salary.
Sophie: why did he do that? It was so stupid.
Joe: He just didn't think.
Sophie: You're right. He didn't. He made himself look ridiculous.
Alex
I've seen it in players before. It's a sort of obsession.
Obsession:
You haven't given me the commitment I expect.
We don't play for fun, we play to win.
Commitment:
Up to now, we don't know if Manni will leave London Rangers.
To Paul and Jim, Manni is sure to leave next,
with which they even feel happy.
Likely Emma is the only one who expects Manni to stay.
Paul and Joe were eager to tell Emma that Manni would leave.
But they tried to appear calm,
and be ready to give her a surprise.
Yeah, we've got some great gossip, only over dinner.
But Emma refused Paul's invitation for dinner,
saying that she must look after Manni and Peter.
She had to make sure that Manni and Peter
wouldn't stay out late that night.
I think Manni will be going home, cheer up,
at least you'll be free for dinner tonight.
But I'm going to give you a chance.
I want you to play in the reserve team game late this afternoon.
Remember though, this is a test.
I need to see what you can do. No more stupid tricks,
you're a part of a team, okay?
No more stupid tricks
Don't play stupid tricks any more.
It's really good news. I wonder what Peter
will react after he knows Manni will stay at Rangers.
In the drama Jim said they've got some great gossip.
Now let's say something about gossip.
与另一个词chat(聊天)相近,
I won't be interested in any gossip about my friend.
He was curious, meddlesome, and gossipy.
Please remember the word "gossip", and try not
let your friends think you're gosspy.
Right, mind your mouth, don't be a gossiper.
Manni
See you next time.
