    The 24-hour news channel is broadcast in the Chinese language, and covers almost all parts of the country.

    The channel began a trial operation at the beginning of May. Reports covered major stories including China's fight against SARS, the Three Gorges Dam Project, and the 50th anniversary of the first climbing of Mount Qomulangma.

    Surveys show that news programs on the hour and the following analysis have become magnets for news followers. Insiders say they are making greater efforts to do more timely and more informative stories.

    Despite the major part of the audience remaining domestic, the coverage includes both events at home and big stories worldwide.
