First going to air on July 9, 2001, CCTV-11 sets to promote China's excellent traditional opera arts. It fully embodies the Chinese people's profound culture, presenting more than 200 types of operas from around the country. They are interesting and informative, and emphasize the relation between opera and Chinese culture. The channel also presents modern operas.
