A whole year has passed since the July 7th attack on London's public transport system claimed the lives of 52 commuters. And London is ready to commemorate this dark day. Activities to commemorate the anniversary will begin in just a few hours. Today's events will be deliberately low-key. First, there will be flower-laying ceremonies where the bombs went off. These will be followed by a prayer service in St. Paul's Cathedral, including two minutes of silence across the nation at midday. In the evening, the names of the victims will be read out during a formal ceremony to be attended by families, survivors and government ministers. Exactly one year ago, three bombs went off within a minute of each other on tube trains at Edgware Road, Liverpool Street and between King's Cross and Russell Square. An hour later, a bomb exploded on a bus at Tavistock Square. An investigation into the cause of the deadly attack shows a lack of a digital radio network on London's subway system hampered efforts by emergency service rescue teams.
