Special Report:   Iraq in Transition

The genocide trial of Saddam Hussein has resumed without him or his six co-defendants in the courtroom.

Saddam and his former defense minister were ejected from the court again on Tuesday, after a shouting match with the chief judge. Saddam had brought a prepared statement to read, and refused to remain silent after repeated requests to do so by the judge.

The judge briefly shut off microphones and ordered Saddam to be removed from the court for the second time in two days. Saddam's codefendants also shouted at the judge, and were absent when the trial resumed.
