Countries participating in the Six-party talks have welcomed news of the DPRK's return to the negotiating table. And officials say talks could resume as early as this month or December. But Seoul has stressed that thorough preparation must take place before they begin. And the US has warned that effective action must also be taken, stressing that just returning to negotiations is not enough.

Chun Yung-woo, South Korea’s chief nuclear negotiator said, “What they agreed on is the fact that the six-party talks will resume at each country's convenience. The exact date should be set as each country decides what to do. And if the talks resume, it's important to prepare in advance in order to make substantial progress.”

John Bolton, US ambassador to the UN said, “I think the resolution was very clear that simply returning to the six-party talks is not going to be sufficient to change the terms of the resolution. I think the President made it clear this morning that he wants to see substantial progress and we have yet to actually schedule the six party talks and so we'll wait and see if the talks take place and then we'll see what comes out of them.”
