African traders explore Chinese market

Following the just-concluded China-Africa Cooperation Forum Summit in Beijing, an African Commodities Exhibition has opened in the Chinese capital. Business people from 23 African nations are there to showcase their latest products.

Zimbabwean art and crafts dealer Shungu Machingura has been doing business in her home country for six years. Hoping to explore new markets overseas, she came to China with her newborn baby to promote her products.

Shungu Machingura, S. African art and crafts dealer said, “I come here to look for a new market where I could promote the typical products of my country. I want my company to open as 10,000 units in China in the decade to come. It's really a good place to come.”

Like Shungu, all present intend to seek new sales channels for their traditional and special commodities, jewelry, minerals, coffee and handicrafts, to name but a few.
