UN denounces Israeli attacks in Gaza

UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan has voiced his shock and dismay at the Israeli shelling in Gaza. Annan said he was deeply concerned about the loss of civilian lives. He said both sides should be conscious of humanitarian laws and protection of civilians. Annan said peace required both sides to work equally hard and he hoped other nations would join him in encouraging that.
