In New York the UN Security Council has been discuss a resolution demanding the withdrawal of Israeli troops from the Gaza Strip. It also condemns Israeli attacks, particularly Wednesday's killings in the northern Gaza town of Beit Hanoun. The resolution requires a mutual cease-fire and the deployment of a UN observer force on the Israeli-Gaza border.
Palestinian UN observer Riyad Mansour denounced the Security Council's silence on Israel's offensive in the Gaza Strip. He also urged the Council to condemn the killing of 18 members of an extended family.
The Palestinian UN observer challenged the Security Council to act to stop Israel's offensive along the northern Gaza border.
