APEC officials meet in Hanoi

The annual APEC forum has gotten underway in the Vietnamese capital of Hanoi. The week of talks began on Sunday with a two-day meeting of senior officials.

The representatives of 21 APEC member economies are expected to discuss a framework for free trade agreements, and guidelines on dealing with counterfeit and pirated goods. They hope to find a way to unlock the stalled Doha round of WTO negotiations. Senior officials will also discuss the Hanoi Action Plan to implement the Busan Roadmap, APEC reform, and counter-terrorism.
