British Prime Minister Tony Blair has told the US bipartisan Iraq Study Group that progress in resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict was the way to get moderate Muslim states to support any new plan for Iraq. This, while giving testimony to members of the ISG via video-link, on Tuesday.

A Downing Street spokesman said that Blair told the group that the Israel-Palestinian conflict was the top priority in the region. Especially since extremists are exploiting it to radicalize moderate Muslims. Blair says a plan is needed for Iraq and the region as a whole focused firstly on resolving the conflict between Israel and the Palestinians. Blair said resolving the conflict would stop moderate Muslims from being stirred up.
