Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert has called on the international community to unite, and halt the threat of a nuclear-armed Iran.
He was addressing the largest annual gathering of Jewish community leaders in North America yesterday (TUES). Olmert also called on moderate Arab states to unite, and prevent Iran from undermining stability in the Middle East. He thanked his audience, members of United Jewish Communities, for raising hundreds of millions of US dollars to assist reconstruction efforts. He said tourism bolstered the nation's spirit in a time of war. Olmert also said the conflict between Israel and the Palestinians had gone on for too long. Outside the Los Angeles convention center, about sixty protesters from the Free Palestine group chanted in objection to the prime minister's visit.
