China says it is committed to providing an open, transparent and highly effective environment for business people. Especially in the areas of trade and investment.

Chinese Commerce Minister Bo Xilai made the remark on Thursday during the APEC ministerial meeting. Bo says China had issued almost seven-thousand APEC business travelling cards since the system was introduced in 2003. And more than three-thousand foreigners in the country have been granted permanent resident status since China adopted its own "green card" system. Bo Xilai added that China's customs procedures have also been greatly simplified.
