On Tuesday, he held talks with his Indian counterpart, Abdul Kalam, President of the All Indian National Congress, Sonia Gandhi, as well as India's parliamentary leaders. During talks, the two presidents, said they valued the traditional China-Indian friendship. They expressed their conviction that cooperation between the two countries is globally significant.
Hu Jintao noted that the Sino-Indian strategic and cooperative partnership should make great progress in the future.
For his part, the Indian leader said President Hu Jintao's visit will bring new impetus to bilateral relations, adding that cooperation between the two countries is likely to develop further in other fields.
He said India will spare no effort to push forward ties with China.
Before the meeting, the Presidents addressed youth representatives from both countries at a gathering to celebrate the China-India friendship year.
