Russia delivers defensive weapons to Iran

Russia has started delivering its Tor-M1 air defense missiles to Iran.

Russian officials say the missiles are purely defensive weapons with a limited range. The Tor-M1 system can identify up to 48 targets, simultaneously firing at two of them as high as 6,000 meters. The deal involves conventional weapons, and does not violate any international agreements. Russian media reports that the Iranian soldiers who will operate the systems were trained inside Russia.
