Special Report: Iraq in TransitionUS President George W. Bush has arrived in the Jordanian capital Amman. He is scheduled to hold talks with Iraq's prime minister Nouri al-Maliki today.
Topping the agenda are ways to prevent further deterioration of Iraq's security, and to pave the way for a reduction of US troops. The meeting between Bush and al-Maliki comes after the UN Security Council voted unanimously on Tuesday to extend the mandate of the 160,000-strong multi-national force in Iraq for one year. On Wednesday, al-Maliki met with Jordan's King Abdullah.
