More violence in Iraq: 14 Iraqis and American soldiers died

Special Report: Iraq in TransitionMore bloodshed in Iraq as pressure builds on Washington for a radical change in policy. On Thursday, at least 14 Iraqis and American soldiers died in several attacks.
A roadside bomb exploded in Beiji, 290 kilometers north of Baghdad, damaging a US minesweeper. There have been no reports so far of US casualties and no statement from the US military. But elsewhere in Iraq on Thursday, 11 US soldiers perished in several attacks.

The military has confirmed that one died in a firefight in the insurgent stronghold of Ramadi, to the west of Baghdad. And in Fallujah, 65 kilometers, also to the west of Baghdad, a parked car bomb exploded next to a police patrol killing two Iraqi policemen and wounding another.
Meanwhile, another car bomb exploded in the al-Wahda neighborhood in central Baghdad, killing one civilian and wounding two others. The explosion also set several cars on fire and damaged some nearby shops.
