3 civilians killed in Sri Lanka school attack

Tamil Tiger artillery fire hit a school and its surroundings in northeast Sri Lanka on Thursday.

The government military said the attack killed three civilians, including a child, and wounded 10 students. But the rebels denied targeting the school and accused government forces of launching an offensive in the east. The attack comes a day after the government reimposed an anti-terrorism law allowing security forces to arrest, search and interrogate suspected rebels.
