Possible sanctions against Iran on nuclear issue

German Chancellor Angela Merkel says the international community must use all diplomatic options -- including sanctions -- to prevent Iran from getting nuclear weapons.
Merkel made the remark during a news conference with visiting Israeli Prime Minister, Ehud Olmert. The two countries are calling for a resolution by the UN Security Council to impose sanctions against Iran. Meanwhile, the five permanent UN Security Council members -- Britain, China, France, Russia and the United States -- plus Germany, have resumed negotiations on a draft resolution that would impose sanctions on Iran.
This is the first round of negotiations after Britain, France and Germany circulated the revised draft to Security Council members last Friday. The draft bars Iran from importing or exporting key materials and technology related to its nuclear and ballistic missile programs. But it does leave some flexibility for dual-use items.
