Israeli troops kill Palestinian militant at border

Israeli troops have shot dead a Palestinian man along the heavily guarded border between the Gaza Strip and Israel, despite a two-and-a-half week cease-fire.

Medical officials identified the 24-year-old man as a member of the Fatah faction. The Israeli army said he was approaching the fence armed with a rifle and grenades.

On Wednesday evening, at least two Palestinian fishermen were wounded when an Israeli naval vessel fire at their boat in the Mediterranean Sea near Gaza's border with Egypt. The area is subject to an Israeli naval blockade. The Israeli army said its patrol boat identified a suspicious vessel and opened fire.
