Economic dialogue between China-US being fruitful

In the final day meeting of China-US Strategic Economic Dialogue, Chinese Finance Minister Jin Renqing delivered a speech in which he concluded the productive and in-depth discussions during the past one and a half days.

Jin Renqing says, the two sides reaffirmed the commitment to pursuing macro-economic policies and decided to prioritize work during the next six months in several strategic areas. Both sides committed to take positive steps to strengthen the WTO, including through successful conclusion of the Doha Round. The two sides also committed to invigorate ongoing work within the JCCT on high-tech trade, IPR, and market economy status issues.

Topics like health care, sustainable energy use, facilitation of personal and business travel, development assistance, and MDB lending are also discussed. Finally, Jin says both sides concluded an agreement facilitating financing to support US exports to China and agreed to re-launch bilateral air services negotiations beginning in January 2007.
