Contaminated drinking water is being blamed for an outbreak of hepatitis A in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region's Bobai County early this month. More than 100 students who were identified as carriers of the disease have been treated at local hospitals. Authorities now say the outbreak is under control.

Q: When were you admitted to hospital?

A: On the 11th of December.

Q: What were the symptoms?

A: No appetite, abdominal pain, feeling tired all the time.

63 students infected with Hepatitis A are still being treated in an isolation section of Bobai County Hospital.

An initial investigation shows the outbreak was caused by contaminated drinking water from a well.

Poor living conditions have not helped about 20 students share one dormitory. And the school canteen was operating without a health certificate.

Local health authorities have sterilized toilets, canteen, dormitories and classrooms to stop the infection spreading any further.
