Two hundred Chinese soldiers have finished a joint drill with the army of Pakistan. The exercises followed a week-long bilateral exchange focusing on military equipment and technology.
The last two days of the military exchange were reserved for some more dramatic action, including an hour long simulation of suicide attacks at a check point. Along with the use of the latest weapons and detection technologies, speed of response was the key focus of the exercise.
And the launch of the exchange itself can be seen as another quick response. It all comes just a few weeks after the visit to Pakistan of China's President Hu Jintao.
This was the fourth joint military drill between China and Pakistan. The exercise's code name "Friendship-2006" proclaims the nature of the longstanding relationship between the two countries.
Major General of Pakistani army, Mohsin Kamal said, "Through this enhanced interaction, we look forward to sharing our common knowledge and experience."
Throughout the year military exchanges focused on counter terrorism have been one of the major forms of diplomatic exchange for China.
Those involved have included the United States, and the members of Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
China has repeatedly said it will fight the triple dangers of terrorism, separatism and extremism, stating its key goal is the maintenance of regional security and stability.
