Suicide car bombing kills at least 15 in Baghdad

A car bomb has gone off at a park in northern Baghdad, killing at least four people and wounding seven. And earlier on Wednesday, a suicide car bomb also in the capital claimed at least 11 lives.

The suicide bomber rammed his vehicle into an Iraqi police checkpoint near Baghdad University. Police officers and university students were among the dead and wounded. Police checkpoints are a frequent target of militants fighting US-led forces and the Shi'ite-led Iraqi government. Police normally set up checkpoints outside the university's gate.
