EU calls for talks on Somali interim government and militias

EU has condemned the escalation of violence in Somalia and demanded an immediate end to hostilities.

EU officials called on both the Somali interim government and the militias to return to dialogue without any preconditions. It also urged all external parties and governments to immediately refrain from all military intervention. The Cairo-based Arab League has also made similar appeals.
