This first meeting concentrated on personal introductions and deciding what form the next gathering should take. The two sides decided on work processes, and the scope and topics for joint research. They also discussed the 2,000 years of Sino-Japanese exchanges, and modern and post-World War II history.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang said the study will help both sides handle disagreements through dialogue and exchange, and create a foundation for future relations.
