Israel may use nuclear weapons against Iran

Analysts fear that Israel's possible plan to use nuclear weapons against Iran will push the war-weary Middle East into further violence.

Israel has refused to rule out pre-emptive military action against Iran, along the lines of its 1981 air strike against an atomic reactor in Iraq. Insiders say that the US and Israel have consulted frequently over the plan.

If conducted, the nuclear attack will be the first since the 1945 US atomic bombing on Hiroshima and Nagasaki during World War II.
