Representatives of the International Atomic Energy Agency have been invited to visit Iranian nuclear sites.
A senior IAEA official said the four-day visit will begin early February. This, as the UN nuclear agency has suspended some aid to Iran, in line with Security Council sanctions.
According to the senior envoy, the main aim of Iran's invitation to visit its nuclear sites is to display the openness and transparency of the Iranian atomic fuel program. Tehran said it hopes such visits will help the country establish trust and demonstrate the peaceful nature of its nuclear program.
IAEA officials emphasized that the freeze was temporary and subject to review and approval by the 35-nation board of the agency. The UN nuclear watchdog is looking at the full list of technical aid programs to Iran. It will propose cutting those that could serve non-peaceful nuclear aims.
