US diplomat arrives in Beijing to discuss date for resuming of 6-party talks

US Assistant Secretary of State, Christopher Hill has arrived in Beijing after visiting Berlin, Seoul and Tokyo. He's here to discuss the future of the DPRK's nuclear six-party talks with his Chinese counterpart.

Christopher Hill is expected to have meetings with Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Wu Dawei, to determine the schedule for the next round of six-party talks.

Hill said, US ASST secretary of state, said, "So we are going to talk about my discussions in Berlin. And I will ask him about his thoughts on when they could schedule the next round of six-party talks, because we would like to do that as soon as that is convenient for the Chinese government."

Hill will also brief Wu on the outcome of the talks he had with top DPRK six-party talks envoy Kim Kye-gwan early this week in Berlin.

Hill has described the discussions in Berlin as "useful".

The DPRK said through its official KCNA news agency, that it had reached a "certain agreement" with the United States in the Berlin talks.

Hill flew in from Tokyo, where he had voiced hope that the next round could make progress.
