Iran has stopped a United Nations inspection team from entering the country in what appears to be a retaliation against UN sanctions imposed last month.

The officials were picked from a list drawn up by the UN's Nuclear Watchdog, the IAEA. And the Iranian Foreign Minister has defended the move as legal, and in accordance with IAEA regulations.

Last week, unnamed UN sources said Iran was ready to start assembling thousands of centrifuges. These can be used to produce enriched uranium a first step to developing nuclear weapons. But there's been no sign of any actual activity.
The Foreign Minister has said making centrifuges is in line with peaceful nuclear activity adding that the IAEA is well aware of Tehran's activities in this area.
