Special Report:   80th Anniversary of PLA

In Zambia, Hu Jintao spoke with China's only military medical team stationed outside the country. The doctors have been in Zambia for 22 years.

A proud moment for the Chinese president.

And for the ten doctors, the man they greeted was also the commander-in-chief of the PLA they belong to.

Zambia is the only country where China sends medical assistance in the form of military doctors. Each group serves two years. Since 1984, one hundred and sixty three doctors have carried out the mission.

And they're proud that the locals call them "our doctor."

Hu Jintao, Chinese president, said, It is indeed MY honor to have this chance to talk with you. All of you represent our country and our people so well. I've heard a lot of your quality medical service, and your devotion. All that you've done during the period is conducive to Sino-Zambian friendship.

The doctors will still be on duty during Spring Festival, when Chinese families come together.

Hu Jintao encouraged them, by telling them to take the time to keep in touch with their loved ones.
