China, S. Africa pledge to improve bilateral ties

Chinese President Hu Jintao is now in the South African capital, Pretoria. President Hu and his South African counterpart Thabo Mbeki, held talks to reach a broad consensus on the future development of bilateral ties.

President Hu Jintao and his South African counterpart Thabo Mbeki expressed their commitment to strengthening relations between their two countries.

He suggests that leaders from both sides maintain frequent, in-depth exchanges.

The president proposes to optimize trade structures, and to find ways to expand cooperation in vocational training, Chinese language teaching, mining and to crackdown on crime.

Hu Jintao announced that the Chinese government will invite five hundred young people from South Africa and other African nations to visit China over the next three years.

President Hu also says cooperation between China and Africa is based on equality, mutual trust and mutual benefit.
