"Muslim Movement" protest to call for halting excavations in Isreal

In Jerusalem, Israeli police have clashed with Muslim protesters upset that part of bridge leading from the Western Wall to the holy al-Aqsa mosque has been ripped up.

Police arrested the leader of the so-called "Islamic Movement" in Israel, Raed Salah, and the Arab Israeli Knesset member, Ibrahim Sarsour.

Muslims fear excavation could damage the mosque, despite Israeli assurances that renovation will not harm what many consider Islam's third-holiest site.

Arab leaders of neighboring countries have also joined in the protest, calling for an immediate halt to excavations.
