The carnage continues in Iraq with several car bombs blasting Shi'ite targets in Baghdad, and killing at least 43 people.
In the deadliest attack, a bomb in a parked car exploded at a meat market in a predominantly Shi'ite town, killing 20 people and wounding 45. Another explosion tore through a minibus nearly an hour earlier in another mainly Shi'ite neighborhood, killing seven passengers and wounding 10.
The attacks are taking place amidst furious diplomatic efforts to restore stability to the war-torn country.
Iraq's commander for eastern Baghdad, Major-General Abdullah Khamis, has met tribal leaders in the Sadr City suburb of Baghdad to discuss a new drive for reconciliation. Khamis also commented on a just-unveiled security plan between US and Iraqi forces saying that it is comprehensive and has strong political support.
