US: No intention of attacking Iran

In the wake of all this, US Defense Secretary Robert Gates dismisses any notion that the United States is ready to attack Iran.

However, he says the US will be watching Tehran closely. Gates made the comments at a news conference in Spain. He was there to attend his first NATO meeting since replacing Donald Rumsfeld in December.

Robert Gates, said, "We have no intention of attacking Iran, the President (of the United States) said that, the (US) Secretary of State said it, I've said it before, obviously when it comes to things like these tests, we watch them closely, and other than that I think it's just another day in the Persian Gulf."
