Anti-war protesters rally in London to call for UK troops pullout from Iraq

Thousands of anti-war protesters have rallied in London's Trafalgar Square to call for the return of British troops from Iraq.

Demonstrators used the rally to also denounce plans to replace the Trident nuclear system and to warn Prime Minister Tony Blair against supporting any plans to strike Iran.

The protest follows an announcement by Blair that 1,600 British troops would return from Iraq within the next few months. But the anti-war demo dubbed the move too little too late.

Under the "Stop The War" coalition, the anti-nuclear weapons campaigners also called for plans to replace the Trident weapons system. Protesters also urged Blair not to launch war on Iran over its stand-off with the West on its nuclear program.
