Russia opposes use of force on Iran

Russia will try to prevent any possible use of force by the US against Iran in the dispute over its nuclear program.

Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov made the remark on Tuesday, in response to US Vice President Dick Cheney's statement last week.

Cheney has refused to rule out the possibility of taking military action against Iran. Lavrov also called on Iran to show flexibility.
