Iran to defend nuclear program before new UN sanctions

Iran says President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad intends to defend its nuclear program, before the UN Security Council debates new sanctions on the Islamic nation.

Sources say Ahmadinejad wants to attend a UN Security Council meeting in order to pursue the nation's rights to exploit nuclear energy peacefully.

The country has rejected UN demands to suspend its uranium enrichment program, insisting its aim is to produce energy.
