China, Russia reach common ground on major int´l issues

China and Russia will continue promoting their strategic partnership. This came during a meeting in Moscow between Chinese President Hu Jintao and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.

The two leaders also announced consensus on international issues. They acknowledged Iran's right to the peaceful use of nuclear technology within the framework of the nuclear non-proliferation treaty.

Meantime, they called on Tehran to take on its obligations and implement related UN resolutions.

The two sides re-affirmed their support for denuclearizing the Korean Peninsula. The leaders say this is vital to the peace, security and stability of the Asian-Pacific region.
