Hu, Putin attend opening ceremony of Chinese National Exhibition

Earlier in that visit, Hu Jintao and Vladimir Putin, attended the opening ceremony of the Chinese National Exhibition in Moscow.

The exhibition is one of the most significant events to be held during the special "Year of China" program in Russia.

The two presidents opened the Chinese National Exhibition at the Crocus Expo exhibition center in Moscow.

Addressing the opening ceremony, President Hu Jintao spoke highly of the all-round cooperation between the two countries and pledged to push forward the Sino-Russian strategic partnership.

Hu Jintao said, "The Chinese National Exhibition in Russia is the largest ever overseas display of Chinese culture and economic development, which is held abroad in the name of the country. The exhibition showcases the splendid culture and history of China to the Russian people, reflects the achievements and successes of China's reform and opening-up policy, and also reviews the profound achievements of Sino-Russian economic and trade cooperation. "

President Hu Jintao pointed out the exhibition will promote the traditional friendship between the two peoples, and serves as a platform for enhancing the cooperation between the two countries.

Putin also spoke highly of the exhibition in his speech, saying that the exhibition would help Russian people understand China's current capabilities of production and technology, so as to not only increase the bilateral trade volume, but improve the quality of cooperation as well.

The four-day exhibition is in the theme of Win-win cooperation and Harmonious Development, which matches the current Sino-Russian strategic partnership of cooperation perfectly.

The exhibition covers over 30 industries ranging from energy to home appliances, and more than 15,000 kinds of products were exhibited in an area of 20,000 square meters at the expo center.

In connection with the exhibition, Chinese and Russian enterprises signed 21 agreements and contracts of more than four billion US dollars after the opening ceremony.
