Foreign ministers in the Arab League have picked Egypt and Jordan to take the lead in efforts to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. This will involve approaching Israel to promote a Saudi-drafted peace plan.
The League has also set up working groups to explain its approach to implementing the peace initiative. Arab countries are hoping to pitch the land-for-peace plan as a basis for resuming stalled negotiations.
Israel has praised the offer, but says it will not accept the plan without some changes.
