Chinese former figure skating World Champion Chen Lu is showing her support to Russia's Olympic bid. She has been named ambassador for Sochi -- one of the candidate cities bidding for the 2014 Winter Olympic Games.

The host city of the 2014 Winter Olympic Games will be announced over the next two months, and all the candidates are calling for all the support they can get.

On Tuesday, Candidate city Sochi announced that they have named famous Chinese figure skater Chen Lu as their ambassador.

Chen Lu said, "I am very pleased and honored to be named the ambassador. I have visited Sochi's Olympic venues and ski resort just now, and when I went to the city what impressed me most are both the citizens and government's support. I will try my best to help Sochi to be the host city of the 2014 Winter Olympic Games."

Sochi's bidding Committee are very confident about their chances to host the 2014, and can hardly wait to find out who will win.

Elena Anikina, Sochi 2014 Bid Committee president, said, "Sochi is unique and we have a lot of unique."

Cities competing with Sochi for the 2014 Winter Olympics are the South Korean city of Pyeongchang and the Austrian city of Salzburg.
