China, U.S. conclude key economic dialogue, with specific agreements

China and the United States on Wednesday concluded a key economic dialogue with a wide variety of specific agreements. The two days of meetings in Washington were designed to address outstanding issues in economic and trade relations. Both countries agreed to further dialogue this December in Beijing.

Chinese Vice Premier Wu Yi says the two countries reached much consensus and realized positive results.

Wu Yi said, "The two sides conducted in-depth discussions over comprehensive strategic and long term economic issues It calls for direct conversations and dialogue."

U.S. Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson also spoke highly of the bilateral economic talks.

Paulson said, "Our relationship work best when it produces mutual benefits which lead to growth, balance and a stronger global economy The dialogue will continue. Our cooperative spirit will continue as well."

China and the United States held their first strategic economic dialogue last December. The dialogue mechanism has become an important platform for the two nations to discuss long-term strategic and economic issues.
