Special Report: 17th CPC National CongressChina's senior food quality control officials say the country has a strict quality control system to ensure the safety of food exports. They say Chinese-made products shouldn't be labeled as substandard just because of a few producers.
Different liquors are being tested for alcohol content at the Food Safety Inspection Center under the Beijing Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau. About 30,000 samples including food and cosmetics are tested in the center each year. The center is recognized by many foreign countries, including the US and South Korea.
Li Yuanping, director general import & Export Food Safety Bureau , AQSIQ, said, "In the lab you can see that we conduct strict quality tests before the products are exported. Besides, we have put in place a monitoring system which covers plantation, breeding farms and production bases. Only raw materials that meet our standards can be used. There is no such thing as zero risk. More than 99 percent of China's exports are up-to-standard."
Li said the proportion is about the same, or even higher than the equivalent figure for US food exports to China in the past three years. And the country will take measures to help foreign importers to differentiate between qualified and unqualified food producers.
As one of the major food exporters in the world, China has always considered food safety a top priority strict quality control systems are in place to safeguard food safety.
During an inspection to Beijing Huiyuan Beverage and Food Group, Director Li said the company is an example to showcase good quality control in domestic food-processing enterprises.
The company's overseas markets now cover more than 20 countries and regions. Exports of 100% juice amounted to more than 20 million US dollars last year.
