The quality and safety levels of China's agricultural products are consistently high.
This is according to the latest figures from the Ministry of Agriculture. And it says it will continue to strengthen controls around the nation to improve food quality and safety standards.
The Ministry of Agriculture has released details on the overall quality and safety of China's agriculture products.
Economist of Ministry of Agriculture, Zhang Yuxiang said, "99.1 percent of China's exports of agricultural products to the United States is up to grade. The number to Japan and Europe is 99.8 percent. According to a Japanese Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare report on Japan's imports in 2006, the rate of products that meet standards from China is higher than average, and better than the rates from the US and Europe."
The Ministry of Agriculture has launched a "No Harm to the Public" food activity plan to stress food safety from the source to the end product.
The ministry has pushed for the standardization of the agricultural industry. It has instructed farmers to use pesticides carefully and fertilize properly. And it has encouraged them to institute clean production and healthy breeding processes.
China has established more than four thousand provincial agricultural standardized demonstration districts. 94 percent of produce, 98 percent of meat products, and 97 percent of aquacultural products are up to grade.
The Ministry of Agriculture says it will continue to step up supervision and control of agricultural products all over the nation.
Zhang Yuxiang said,"Our supervision will focus on pesticide use in the production process and the quality of raw materials. We will also inspect the quality of 'no-harm-to-the-public' food, green food, and organic food products, as well as provide instruction and training services."
China has enhanced its food supervision to tighten manufacturing standards and reassure its trading partners. The latest reports indicate the government measures are working.
