Beijing Olympics public security symbol unveiled

Three Chinese characters that mean "people" will be drawn together to symbolize security at next year's Beijing Olympic Games.
The symbol was unveiled on Thursday at a ceremony in Beijing. The three characters form an image of the Chinese character "zhong", which means many, depicting the necessity of public participation in security throughout the Games. Drawn in the shape of a "shield", the symbol is an internationally recognized image for public security.
It will appear in print, and will be attached to security facilities, banners and the uniforms of security personnel.
