Before a reception ceremony commemorating the 35th anniversary of normalization of Sino-Japanese relations, the Chinese Premier met with some special guests he met during a trip to Japan earlier this year. The Nagahamas own a farm in the city of Kyoto.
It's the second time they've shaken hands this year.
The warm memories trace back to the Premier's visit to Japan this April.
He dropped in at Nagahama's home as a guest shortly before wrapping up his trip to Japan. There, they together planted two tomato saplings and had a casual chat.
After the Chinese premier returned home, the Nagahamas wrote him a letter. And Premier Wen replied.
And now, on the occasion of marking 35 years since the normalization of Sino-Japanese ties, the friendship between Chinese Premier and Japanese farmer prompted their meeting in Beijing.
During their visit, Premier Wen asked the Japanese farmer about his rice harvest.
Nagahama said it was a productive year. He also mentioned the tomato saplings planted a few months ago.
The meeting was not long, but both sides hope the friendship between the two countries will continue growing from generation to generation.
