Pakistan continues to grieve for the nearly 140 people killed in Friday's suicide attack against former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto in Karachi. On Sunday, Bhutto visited the survivors in hospital and joined a special prayer vigil for the victims.
Sunday was the final day of a nation-wide mourning period in Pakistan. Throughout the country, special prayers were held to commemorate the victims in Friday's attack.
Bhutto visited blast survivors at Jinnah hospital in Karachi. She also joined grief-stricken families in special prayers for the victims.
Benazir Bhutto said, "I appeal to every mother here to bring up their children in such a way that they grow up to bring a good name to our country and our religion. For the progress of this country, I ask you to teach your sons never to attack innocent people."
On Saturday, police released a photograph of the suspected suicide bomber and offered a reward to anyone who could identify him. The government suspects al Qaeda-linked militants were responsible for the attack.
The government has said the violence will not affect plans for a general election, although campaigning might have to be curtailed.
Bhutto has stressed she is not blaming the government for the attack. She has made it clear that both she and President Pervez Musharraf share a determination to tackle al-Qaeda and allied militants.
