Chang´e I starts 2nd braking maneuver

China's first lunar probe, Chang'e One, is undergoing its second braking maneuver. Started just a few minutes ago, the maneuver aims to decelerate the satellite to a speed of 1.8 kilometers per second.

On Monday, Chinese President Hu Jintao and Premier Wen Jiabao each sent a congratulatory letter on the successful first braking maneuver of the orbiter. They gave their regards to all those who have participated in the project and urged them to make persistent efforts to secure an "all-round victory."

Scientists say the probe will enter its final orbit on Wednesday at the earliest.
